About the Sherman
Oaks Galleria
World-famous
Pop-icon Reborn in 2002 |
|
While hosting a vibrant
business, professional and creative tenant community during business
hours, the Galleria transforms itself during evenings and weekends into
a unique and exciting destination for
dining,
entertainment, trendy
shopping and
lifestyle services for local
residents, community groups and out-of-town guests. Today, the Sherman
Oaks Galleria truly serves as a "town center" for the San Fernando
Valley in the 21st Century. |

Rich Pop-culture Legacy
In the 1980's, the Sherman Oaks Galleria retail
center was a pop culture phenomenon and a venue for films such as cult
favorites Fast
Times at Ridgemont High and Chopping Mall.
The Galleria's pop-culture
fame was cemented by the song "Valley Girl" by Frank Zappa, which
features a hilarious monologue by his daughter Moon Unit Zappa. |

The Renovation
In 1997, Douglas Emmett purchased the property and,
in 1998, began plans with the architecture, design and planning firm of
Gensler for the Galleria's repositioning and revitalization. The mall
was transformed from a white, windowless box into a state-of-the-art
open-air lifestyle center that includes 700,000 square feet of office
space in three buildings overlooking a 300,000-square-foot retail and
entertainment complex. |
| The
Sherman Oaks Galleria was awarded the
2007 TOBY in the renovation
category by BOMA (Building Managers and Owners Association of Greater
Los Angeles). The TOBY Award is the most prestigious and comprehensive
program of its kind in commercial real estate. |
